CMS development for editorial teams
Clear editing screens let your team publish and update content safely, without calling in a developer.
Background
Confusing interfaces lead to errors, queries and dependence on the agency. So we design the back end around the people who use it every day. A new colleague should be able to publish confidently after a short introduction.
Editing forms for each content type
Each content type gets its own fields rather than one free-text editor. Pages are assembled from components that match the design. Required fields and help text prevent common mistakes such as missing alt text. Contacts or locations are entered once, and one change updates every page.
Roles, approvals and preview
Roles and permissions by section, language or location
Approval steps with draft, review and scheduled publishing
Live preview and revision history
Media library with cropping, focal point and image rights information
Technology
Our standard platform is Statamic, which is built on Laravel. Content is stored as files in Git or in a database. Integrations with a CRM, ERP or shop are developed directly on the Laravel base.
Approach
A workshop on content, roles and processes produces the content model. An early prototype tests the forms against daily work. After training, we fine-tune the interface together. Existing systems are migrated along with their content and redirects.
Quality in day-to-day publishing
Editors maintain the page title, description and social media preview for each page, and create redirects themselves.
