Redesigning multisite projects
A multisite redesign brings domains, brands and languages together on one platform and cuts maintenance effort and running costs.
Background
Many companies run separate websites for countries, brands, locations or products, often each on its own system. That multiplies maintenance, risk and cost.
Typical requirements
Languages: translation processes, separate URLs and correct hreflang tags
Brands: shared building blocks, styled per brand through design tokens
Roles and permissions: one editorial team per site, shared content maintained once
Local freedom: local content within the shared structure
Approach
A review of every site leads to a target model of what sits centrally and what stays local. We often use Statamic, which handles multiple sites and languages out of the box. If content also feeds apps, a headless architecture is the better choice.
Migration and SEO
Each site gets a complete set of 301 redirects. When domains are merged, we report the change of address in Google Search Console. If needed, the sites move one at a time.
Outcome
All sites share the same code, so updates are built once for all of them. That lowers running costs, and new countries or brands launch faster. We can also take care of hosting and maintenance.
